Full Time (Permanent)

Monday to Friday – 7 hours/day

Wabasca, Alberta

 

Bigstone Health Commission is seeking an experienced and competent Chief Executive Officer to join our talented Health Team. The ideal candidate will have senior management experience in the First Nations health setting. This role requires outstanding organizational, communication, and leadership skills with the ability to develop innovative solutions that enhance the quality of life of our members. The Chief Executive Officer will work closely with our Board of Directors and Senior management to strategize and develop long-term plans that guide in new levels of productivity and success for the organization. Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and carryout the mandate of Bigstone Health Commission to deliver and administer health programs and services to the members of Bigstone Cree Nation.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor day-to-day operational processes to provide visibility into the goals, progress, and obstacles of key initiatives.
  • Maintain strong supportive relationships with departments, external partners, and vendors to make decisions regarding operational activity and strategic goals.
  • Identify, negotiate, and implement new health-enhancing programs and services. 
  • Plan, monitor, and analyze key metrics for day-to-day operations to ensure efficient and timely completion of tasks.
  • Ensure adherence to and compliance with all the terms and conditions of the Health Transfer Agreements and Contracts in place for operations and budgets.
  • Ensure required reporting is completed by all program Manager/Supervisors within assigned departments.
  • Adhere to the company’s policies and standards and ensure that laws and regulations are being followed.
  • Works with all Directors, Managers and Departments to develop and implement work plans.
  • Effectively communicate operational issues and provide recommendations.
  • Ensure compliance with approved budgets and monitor expenses in all assigned departments.
  • Develop and maintain a communication strategy.
  • Creating and maintaining partnerships
  • Represent the Commission in public and stakeholder forums as required.
  • Must be willing to travel.
  • Must be willing to relocate to Wabasca, Alberta

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of the Indigenous Health – Indigenous Services Canada programs and services
  • Knowledge of Health legislation, regulations, policies, and procedures
  • Previous experience in health program development
  • Previous experience working with First Nations Health programs or organizations.
  • Strong team building skills.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficient verbal, presentation, listening, written and communications skills.
  • Possess exceptional organization and time management skills.

 

Education and Experience:

  • Post-secondary education (Diploma or Degree) related to Business Management, Health Administration or equivalent.
  • 3-5 years’ experience in First Nations Health Management
  • Certified First Nations Health Management Certification is an asset.
  • Ability to speak Cree is an asset.
  • Must have a valid class 5 driver’s license.
