Warning for Slave Lake: Three opioid overdoses in four days

Summary

Investigators are concerned that there could be more dangerous substances in the community.

RCMP in Slave Lake have issued a warning after three opioid overdoses in the past four days.

On Tuesday, police and EMS responded to a complaint of a person in respiratory distress. EMS administered naloxone to the patient and were able to revive them.

Then on Thursday, May 11 there were two more calls of opioid overdoses. Police responded to residence in Slave Lake where a 37-year-old male was discovered deceased. Investigators are concerned that there could be more dangerous substances in the community.

A second incident where naloxone was again administered occurred later that same day. The patient regained consciousness and was transported to hospital.
