The Switch Dance is always a time of great fun at powwow. The men walk a mile in the ladies’ moccasins, donning jingles or beaded shawls, and the women sport the bustles. Then they test out their skill in the other’s dance moves.
Photographer Bert Crowfoot attended the Samson Cree Nation powwow and captured all the fun last weekend, including the performance of the “women” back-up singers as the females danced as men.
Lots of cheers and laughter, and laughter is good medicine and good for the soul, said Hal Eagletail.
