Innu singer-songwriter Florent Vollant today has received the Knight insignia of the Ordre national du Québec. Vollant was half of the popular music duo Kashtin.

Vollant was born in Labrador in 1959, grew up on the Maliotenam reserve to the east of Sept-Îles.

The persons inducted into the Ordre national du Québec receive one of three ranks—Knight, Officer, or Grand Officer. The individuals decorated by the Ordre are authorized to wear the insignia presented to them by the Premier of Québec.

At today’s ceremony, Chief Ghislain Picard congratulated Vollant on this achievement and thanked him for his contribution to the promotion of Aboriginal music throughout Quebec.
