Beverley Barca appointed supervisor of First Nations, Métis and Inuit programming.

Shelley Willier and Beverley Barca are among the most recent appointments to the Northland School Division.

Willier, who is Indigenous, takes on the position of associate superintendent, responsible for ensuring proper supports are in place for schools in Paddle Prairie, Keg River, Peavine and East Prairie Métis Settlements, Gift Lake, Grouard, Susa Creek, Little Buffalo, Peerless Lake and Trout Lake.

She returns to NSD after serving five years as senior manager with Alberta Education, most recently with the First Nations, Métis and Inuit division.

Barca, who is also Indigenous, was appointed supervisor of First Nations, Métis and Inuit programming. Barca previously worked with the communities of Janvier and Fort Chipewyan.

Also taking on roles of associate superintendents are Tim Stensland and Wes Oginski.

Stensland, who is a former NSD teacher, will focus on schools in Fort Chipewyan, Anzac and Fort McKay.

Oginski, an educator and administrator with 10 years of experience in Northlands, has served as Director of Human Resources since 2012. He is now Associate Superintendent—Human Resources.

“Our priority was to find experienced leaders who have a passion for First Nations, Métis education,” said Superintendent Gord Atkinson.
