Summary

"...at the very least I can take responsibility for my own actions and create positive change for myself..."

Theatre Network in Edmonton will bring Métis Mutt, written and performed by Sheldon Elter, to The Roxy Feb. 15 to March 4. The Roxy is located at 8529 Gateway Blvd.

Elter is known for his work on Caution: May Contain Nuts, and Delmer & Marta. Métis Mutt is a show about one man’s journey out of a destructive cycle. It’s storytelling, stand-up comedy and vignettes while a tale of family dysfunction, internalized racism and an embrace of life’s choices unfolds.

“The main thing I hope people will understand is that through my own unique Indigenous experience, despite the harsh realities of history and oppression, loss of culture and identity, dysfunctional family life as a result of intergenerational trauma, and the present day society’s inherent need to define me through colonial measurements, at the very least I can take responsibility for my own actions and create positive change for myself one day at (a) time to overcome all odds,” said Elter in a press statement.
