An Eskasoni man has been charged with 24 sexual offenses which occurred between 2011 and 2019.
RCMP said in a written statement they received information about the offences on Nov. 20 and their investigation identified three victims.
On Nov. 23, police arrested 67-year-old Joel Nathan Denny without incident. Denny was charged with nine counts of sexual exploitation, nine counts of sexual assault, three counts of sexual interference and three counts of invitation of sexual touching.
He appeared in court today and is being held in custody and will appear again on Tuesday morning
RCMP are asking the public for help determining if there are more victims.

Denny was involved in cultural and heritage events, including the Eskasoni Powwow. He was also a board member of the Nova Scotia Indigenous Tourism Enterprise Network (NSITEN). He has been removed from participating with the provincial Indigenous tourism board and banned from any Indigenous Tourism Association of Canada initiatives.

Anyone acting this way does not reflect the values of Indigenous people and should be held accountable. They certainly do not belong within our communities or our industry."
