The Snotty Nose Rez Kids with their album Trapline and Elisapie for The Ballad of the Runaway Girl are among the 10 finalists competing for this year’s Polaris Music Prize.

The Short List was announced July 16 from the initial long list of 40. The winner will be announced at a gala event in Toronto on Sept. 16.

The Polaris honours and rewards artists who produce Canadian music albums of distinction based solely on merit without consideration of genre or commercial popularity.

The Snotty Nose Rez Kids is an Indigenous hip hop duo from the Haisla Nation on the West Coast of British Columbia. https://snottynoserezkids.com/

The Polaris awards $50,000 to the artist who creates the Canadian Album of the Year.
