Ociciwan Contemporary Art Collective presents Robert Ashley’s in memoriam… at the Francis Winspear Centre for Music on July 18 at 7 p.m.

The production adds a new score that honours the lives of Mary Cecil, Victoria Callihoo (née Belcourt), and Eleanor (Helene) Thomas Garneau, three Indigenous women from the territory that would eventually become the province of Alberta.

This is the first time Robert Ashley’s in memoriam… has been performed by Indigenous artists. The new score is added to the four previous scores of in memoriam… and will feature new hand-made musical instruments, performed by Alex Waterman; Postcommodity; and Indigenous artists from across Alberta, including: Malaya Bishop, seth cardinal, Curtis Lefthand, Jaynine McRae, nêhiyawak (Matthew Cardinal, Kris Harper, and Marek Tyler), and Jared Tailfeathers.

Tickets for the performance are on sale now and are available at the Winspear box office, online and in person.
