Male fatally injured during RCMP response to incident at Whitefish Lake First Nation

The Alberta Serious Incident Response Team (ASIRT) is investigating an incident at a residence at the Whitefish First Nation where, in the early evening hours of Wednesday, Sept. 6, St. Paul RCMP attended a disturbance.

The incident resulted in a male being fatally injured by RCMP officer. No other members of the public were injured during the interaction. 

ASIRT was notified. It is their mandate to “effectively, independently, and objectively” investigate incidents involving Alberta’s police that have resulted in serious injury or death to any person as well as sensitive allegations of police misconduct.

Alberta RCMP will not be commenting further on this incident, reads a press statement.
