Cochrane RCMP – Update 1 - Investigation into Child Death

 The RCMP Major Crimes Unit and Cochrane RCMP are continuing to investigate the death of a child yesterday on the Stoney Nakoda First Nation. 

RCMP can now confirm that the child who died is a 4-month old girl. An autopsy has been scheduled for tomorrow in Calgary.

 

Two adult siblings of the deceased have been released from hospital. 10 others remain at hospital in stable condition. The child who was yesterday in the greatest need of medical care is a 2-year-old girl. She is reported to be in serious but stable condition.

 

No additional updates are scheduled at this time. Updates will be provided by way of a press release when appropriate.

 

More than a dozen people, most of them children, were taken to the hospital yesterday with flu-like symptoms.
