Bulletin: Area restrictions in effect for Ashcroft reserve (Elephant Hill) wildfire

Wednesday, July 19th, 2017 12:07pm

Effective at noon on Tuesday, July 18, 2017, an area restriction for Crown land around the Elephant Hill wildfire (formerly referred to as the Ashcroft Reserve fire) came into effect.

This area restriction will remain in place until the public is otherwise notified.

This restriction has been put in place to protect the safety of the public, as well as firefighting personnel as they continue fire suppression activities.

The area restriction order means that no one, apart from authorized personnel, may enter these areas of Crown land at any time. Individuals who own or lease property within the boundaries of the area restriction may still access their property via the shortest route, once the evacuation order in this area is rescinded. The restriction does not include private land or the garbage dump and transfer station.
