The province has provided the Alexander First Nation with $14,875 for its training facility and fire hall.
The funding announced Friday morning was part of the $64,875 provided to communities in northwest central Alberta through the provincial government’s Community and Regional Economic Support program.
“This funding will help communities with common interests tackle economic development projects that they might not be able to individually.
“Through these projects, local leaders are working together to grow and diversify our economy and make life better for Alberta families,” said Minister of Economic Development and Trade Deron Bilous.
The successful projects will attract investment and stimulate economic growth, provide a flexible regulatory framework for sustainable regional economic growth and set the stage for new infrastructure that will support neighbouring communities and offer valuable training opportunities
Following the first CARES application intake in 2016, the program evaluated 88 applications from regions and communities, representing approximately $10.5 million in requested grants.
