Audette to present national inquiry finding at two forums in Manitoba

Manitoba Keewatinowi Okimakanak Inc. (MKO) will host Michèle Audette, commissioner with the National Inquiry into Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls (MMIWG) Commissioner today and tomorrow.

Audette will present the findings of the Reclaiming Power and Place, the final report of the national inquiry at two community forums organized for community members and service providers.

• Monday, June 10 at St. Joseph’s Hall, 340 Juniper Drive in Thompson, Man. from 3:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. 

• Tuesday, June 11 at Ma Mawi Wi Chi Itata Centre, 445 King Street in Winnipeg from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Note: The Winnipeg event is being held in partnership with the Manitoba MMIWG Coalition and Ma Mawi Wi Chi Itata Centre.

“Although the national inquiry released its final report earlier this week, our work is just beginning. I encourage all Manitoba residents to learn more about the issues by reading the report and its Calls for Justice,” said Grand Chief Garrison Settee.

“We are all part of the solution and each one of us is responsible to play a part in implementing the Calls for Justice contained in the National Inquiry’s final report.”
