Indigenous Relations Systems Coordinator

This position will ensure the integration of Council, Committee, Corporate, Department and Branch directives and strategies into the Section strategies, business plans, and corporate reporting and processes. They will ensure coordinated strategic and community efforts in the Indigenous Relations Office (IRO). The Indigenous Relations Systems Coordinator is accountable for information and issues management including research, analysis and reporting, ensuring documentation, briefings, and reports flowing into and out of the section meet a high quality standard, abide by process and align with section, branch, department and corporate expectations. The Indigenous Relations Systems Coordinator is accountable for the identification, development and implementation of section-wide systems and processes to streamline the business and support data based decisions.
With the work of Indigenous Relations as a cross corporate priority, the office requires coordination of processes and providing strategic support to the Director and Team Leads to ensure accuracy, efficiency, timelines and integrated approaches to the business of the Indigenous Relations Office (IRO) and other offices across the corporation (Branch Manager, Deputy City Manager, and City Manager).
What will you do?
- Manage office administrative tasks, including expense reports, approvals, contract management, payments, and inquiries
- Align the section's strategic and business planning with higher-level plans. Facilitate and support this alignment
- Regularly review plans and prepare reports related to the progress on initiatives and outcomes identified in the plans
- Provide leadership and support in the development of business cases, council reports, performance tracking and reporting, memos, and briefing notes
- Provide leadership, research, analysis, monitoring and recommendations on a wide variety of issues
- Coordinate and/or lead projects including planning, directing, monitoring and coordinating project activities
- Conduct analysis of performance data, financial reports, trends, and program success/effectiveness
- Develop and monitor data and evaluation frameworks when applicable
- Assists in projects by acting as liaison between the projects/initiatives and the IRO Leadership team
- Develop change management plan to maximize positive growth and minimize inefficiencies
- Provide systems and process improvements to enhance the efficiency of the IRO in meeting their goals and desired outcomes
Qualifications:
- University Degree in a relevant field (Social Sciences, Planning, Public or Business Administration, or related field of study)
- A minimum of two (2) years progressively responsible and diversified strategic and/or business planning experience, process development, and experience in a complex institution and/or political clerical office
Asset:
- Valid Alberta Class 5 driver's license (or provincial equivalent)
- Knowledge of the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples (UNDRIP), Truth and Reconciliation Commission (TRC) Calls to Action, Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls (MMIWG) Calls for Justice
Skills required for success:
- Significant understanding of Indigenous communities, their histories, cultures, and current environment. Knowledge of Indigenous peoples in Treaty Six Territory and the Homeland of the Métis Nation in a value

Work Environment:
- The weekly hours of work for this position are currently under review and may change at a future time. Any changes will be made in accordance with the City of Edmonton/Civic Service Union 52 collective agreement and the incumbent will be notified in advance.
- This position may be eligible for a hybrid work arrangement with the flexibility to work from both home and the worksite as per the Letter of Understanding between the City of Edmonton and Civic Service Union 52.
- Some evenings and weekends may be required.
