Notice of Receipt of a Repatriation Application 

Glenbow Museum hereby gives notice of receipt of a repatriation application from a member of  the Siksika Nation for an object in the Glenbow Museum collections.

The application is for the repatriation of Crowfoot’s Granddaughter’s Dress (catalogue number AF 5691; Accession number 2005.076.001), originating from the Siksika Nation, which came into Glenbow Museum’s possession in 2005.

Any person with interest in this object, who wishes to make a written representation to Glenbow’s Manager of Collections relating to this application, or to submit an application of their own, must do so within 30 days after publication of this notice. Repatriation of the above item to the Blackfoot Crossing Historical Park Limited, as the designated representative of the Siksika Nation, may proceed after the 30-day period. This will occur if the objects listed in the application are determined to fall within the category of a sacred ceremonial object, if no additional applications or contrary written representations have been made, and if Glenbow’s advisors consider repatriation appropriate.
