Kee Tas Kee Now Tribal Council Education Authority (KTCEA) serves six schools in five First Nation communities in Northern Alberta. KTCEA was created when KTC leadership brokered a funding deal with the Government of Canada, which was inspired by the need for a high quality, safe, and effective education system designed by Cree people to serve the needs of Cree students. Our programs and services reflect the unique Cree Language and Identity of the KTC Nations.

Position: Communications Manager Annual Salary: $69,303.00 - $98,344.00 pending education

Job Description:

Reporting to the Superintendent, the Communication Manager’s specific responsibilities based on key competencies are to:

  • Lead development and implementation of a KTCEA communications strategy & plan for KTCEA
  • Gather information, organize and produce an electronic newsletter and reports for the board ▪ Assist in media relations authority-wide, prepare public relations material, key messages, and coordination of media requests ▪ Develop communication strategies for varying stakeholder audiences ▪ Take lead in the development of communications products including community reports, handbooks and fact sheets ▪ Review/develop briefing notes, correspondence and other written materials for KTCEA ▪ Other duties as assigned


  • A Bachelors or Master’s degree in Communications, English or Education is required or related combination of education and experience
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of First Nations Language, Culture, Organizations and Communities
  • 5 years of communications experience
  • Experience working in a school administration is an asset
  • Ability to be proactive and to take initiative
  • A valid driver’s license Conditions of Employment: RCMP/Police Criminal Record Check and Intervention Record Check (formerly Child Welfare Check, CWIS) submitted prior to commencement of employment.
