JOB SUMMARY: The Director of Policy, Communications and Records reports to and works under the direction and supervision of the Senior Administrative Officer. The Director of Policy, Communications and Records assists the Six Nations Elected council and the Senior Administrative Officer in the performance of political, statutory, operational and advisory services.

To assist the Senior Administrative Office and the Six Nations Elected Council in identifying and developing policies, procedures and strategies for the provision of effective governance.

To supervise the policy, records management, and communications departments’ staff within the policies and procedures established by Six Nations Elected Council for the administrative department.

 

Type:  Full Time

Closing Date:  July 29, 2020

Hours of Work:  70 hours biweekly

Wage:  To be determined

 

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Degree in law preferred, OR,
  • Minimum of a degree in Political Science, Public Administration or Business Administration AND three (3) years’ experience in the policy field;
  • Must have one year experience working with First Nations in a policy or related area:
  • Must have knowledge of First Nations law and legal issues affecting First Nations;
  • Experience or courses in business/public administration is an asset
  • Working knowledge of current First Nations issues, history and culture, and legal issues and relations with the federal and provincial governments; knowledge of government legislation, and First Nations political organizations;
  • Possess excellent legal research and analytical skills;
  • Possess excellent verbal and written communications skills;
  • Ability to work independently and exhibit a high degree of initiative, self-direction and public relations skills;
  • Must possess computer skills
