Osoyoos band chief inducted into Business Hall of Fame

The Hall of Famers are called Companions and their entrepreneurial and management skills, vision, determination, and perseverance help shape the country.

Chief Clarence Louie of the Osoyoos Indian Band was inducted into the Canadian Business Hall of Fame on June 19 in Toronto.

The Hall of Fame honours the contributions made by business leaders to the economic growth and development of Canada, providing role models for future generations of enterprising youth.

The Hall of Famers are called Companions and their entrepreneurial and management skills, vision, determination, and perseverance help shape the country.

Louie has helped lead a very entrepreneurial Osoyoos Indian Band, and said the honour was a OIB award for its economic development achievements.

“Anytime any of the Osoyoos Indian Band businesses or individuals get recognized for their work it’s not only great for the Rez but also for the region,” reads a statement in the Osoyoos Times.

Since 1979, over 170 business leaders have been bestowed with this business honour.

Louie was joined by three other Canadian business leaders: retired president and CAO of Ontario Teacher’s Pension Plan Claude Lamoureux; Stephen J. R. Smith, Chairman and CEO of First National Financial LP; and Annette Verschuren, chair and CEO of NRStor Inc.
