For the first time in more than 150 years, history is made with the birth of a bison on the land at Wanuskewin Heritage Park in Saskatoon. She was born Wednesday, April 22nd.

The herd at Wanuskewin is a conservation herd made up of bison from Grasslands National Park, as well as bison from the U.S. with ancestral ties to Yellowstone.

In December of 2019 Wanuskewin “was thrilled” to welcome these two herds to the park to educate guests to share the significant story of kinship with the people of the Northern Plains.

“We thank the Elders for their guidance during this exciting time”, reads a Tweet announcing the great event.
